If you're a student like myself, a super-trendy designer piece could cost you half a years paycheck. Perhaps three months if you don't eat out ever again. But you can get looks for less with a little, tedious, over-determined searching. The good news is I did it for you. (yes!)
runway clips from New York Magazine
They are from the lines L13 and Teamo. Much more to check out by them too!
if you don't already know Turkish born Hussein Chalayan, you probably should. His designs, which are always actually designed by him, are strange, unconventional, and graphically inspired. He turns kitchen tables into evening gowns, adorns LCD lights to mini dresses, and has even created collections out of airplane material. Yes, really, he is that intense and innovative. Check his previous lines because in 2010 he veered away from the intensity for more wearable styles.
inertia collection from 2009. it's a little late, but this out of control collection never ceases to amaze me. so, i think it might amaze you too.
about how this designer has the best bags ever?
They're about 700-800 range. But you can pick one up at ssense.com or OAK. And if you do happen to get one, please just let me touch it.
Designer: KM RII
You are the best. My ultimate favorite piece of jewelry comes from etsy.com. I wear it nearly everyday too. And you would too if you gave in to your inner bad ass and bought one.
Now hurry. Go to etsy.com and type in "bird skull."
I seriously love this piece, and I think you will too.
Okay, so you've probably seen something like these heels before. I love when designer pieces get copied from and become affordable for people like me and you. Can you tell which one is more? One pair is $1,225 and the other is $169?
One is by Ann Demeulemeester, the other is by Jeffery Campbell.
Okay, so if you guessed the top one as being the designer one, you are wrong. The first one is good old Jeffery Campbell. The other is Ann Demeulemeester at a whopping $1,225. Dear JC, thanks for making us feel like we don't have to be loaded to have nice things.
Russian designers have been getting an extra note of publicity lately. Russian fashion week will happen this year in April from the 1st through the 7th in Moscow at the Congress Hall of World Trade Center, in its tenth year. Normally, I feel like Russian designers don't get half as much news spread and internet buzz as New York or Paris fashion week, so i'm going to change that. Here are a couple flicks of designers that you should get to know a liiitle better.

the majority of the photos are from the above link. tons of photos if you want to look more into the designers. I skimmed through most of the SS2010 collections, and these three designers were my favorites. ESPECIALLY the first two, its a must do. Dig through there collections at the above link. Do it.
Everyones talking about the return of Fur. PETA made a serious impact on sales, and how designers used fur in fashion in the past. I'm not sure how I feel about fur honestly. It is beautiful, lux, and has interesting roots in history, but is pretty sad because animals are still trapped for fur. Anyways, I put together a few pieces from various runway shows from Fall 2010. I even tried to get some of the rainbow-brite colors we've been seeing too. How do you feel about fur? All flicks from style.com
